Research Analyst

We are looking for an exceptional and experienced Research Analyst to join our team at a particularly exciting time for the business as it continues to build on its success.

Research is a vital element in the bespoke solutions EvolutionCBS creates for its mid-market clients and, due to rapid company growth, we are seeking an experienced Research Analyst to join our team.

In this varied role, you’ll report to the Research Director and will be responsible for:

Performing desktop research on M&A transactions and interpreting financial and other information;
Contributing to and producing sector reports and data for publications based on this research;
Tracking and updating information on private equity firms in terms of their activity;
Delivering ad-hoc market insights, commercial intelligence, valuations and pitch books to support the sales and marketing teams and internal stakeholders across EvolutionCBS;
Company analysis, i.e., identifying acquisition targets and potential sellers;
Build and interpret financial statement and valuation analyses (e.g., comparable companies, comparable transactions and discounted cash flow);
Information Memorandum development;
Utilising a wide range of data resources, market intelligence, and our EvolutionCBS QA Database to create compelling, reasoned research strategies and identifying financially capable potential buyers/investors for our client’s business.
The role is ideally suited to individuals with exceptional attention to detail and first-class desk research skills combined with an innate understanding of business drivers and corporate strategy. A degree qualification is less important than industry experience and a combination of the skills required:

Key Attributes & Required Skills

Proven research experience and analytical skills in the financial or M&A sectors
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
Excellent organisational and time management skills – able to cope with conflicting demands, varied workload and to prioritise tasks
Good business understanding, problem-solving skills, and business intuition
Strong command of English and Maths with a good knowledge of business terminology
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ideally some knowledge of using CapitalIQ, BVD and Experian database tools
A strong team player who is able to work independently and meet tight deadlines under pressure
Excellent customer-facing and presentational skills
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with colleagues and clients
Understanding of company financial information
Experience/knowledge of the Mergers & Acquisitions or Financial Services markets
Highly organised, detail oriented and proactive
